A few weeks ago, we showed you the new album art for "Wu-Massacre," the upcoming release from Wu-Tang Clan that features an illustration by comics veteran Chris Bachalo. When MTV News visited the set of their upcoming video for "Our Dreams," the comics-savvy rappers perked up at the mention of comics and the artist who created the "Wu-Massacre" design — but none more excitedly than Method Man, who talked at length about his love for the medium, Bachalo's contribution, and his meeting with one of his comic book heroes, Rob Liefeld, during last year's New York Comic-Con.
Side note: Longtime followers of MTV Splash Page (or myself) on Twitter might recall that Meth's meeting with Liefeld occurred before MTV's "Greatest Badasses" NYCC panel. We were talking comics while waiting for the rest of the panelists to arrive, and I mentioned that the "Youngblood" creator's table was nearby. I don't think I've ever seen any comic fan get more excited than Meth at that moment, and after I pointed out the Image Comics table, he flew out of the studio to meet Liefeld. The rest was fanboy hip-hop history, folks.
"Wu-Massacre" is expected to hit shelves March 30.
